We are so proud of our former undergraduate summer student Alice Savasta for coming top of her year in the BSc in Physiological Science at the University of Bristol. Alice has received not one, but two prizes for her extraordinary academic achievements: the R. W. Meech Prize, awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall programme mark at the end of their degree, and the Physiological Society Prize, awarded to the student who achieves the highest aggregate mark across Years 2 and 3.
During her time with us, Alice led research into the transcriptomics of Trichinella spiralis and developed computational pipelines to investigate changing patterns of gene expression in the parasite and host. She made a remarkable amount of progress in only eight weeks, leading to an upcoming publication. We were therefore especially delighted when she decided to continue on in computational research, undertaking an molecular dynamics project for her final year dissertation at the University of Bristol.
Huge congratulations to Alice from all of us in Cambridge on an absolutely outstanding result!
