We are delighted that our postdoc, Francisco Berkemeier, has won the runner-up talk prize at the annual Cambridge Department of Pathology Symposium. His talk focused on our recent preprint that develops a genome language model to identify the genomic location of competent DNA replication origins in mammalian genomes. He was able to combine this with some mathematical modelling approaches he developed to show that these competent origins correlate with efficient sites of replication.
This is the second presentation prize Francisco has won this academic year and the second consecutive year that one of our lab members has won a prize at this symposium (with Pauline having won the runner-up prize in 2025). Many congratulations Francisco!
